Charles and Henry Greene (G&G) were architects who created their own variation of dwelling and furniture styles within the American Arts and Crafts movement (1880-1930).
Drawing from Asian influence, G&G softened and celebrated the joinery details, which was enhanced with Ebony accents. The cloud lift (the stair-stepped accents at the base of the box and the inner tray handle) is a standard style element of G&G pieces.
Typically crafted from African Mahogany, with Walnut and legally harvested Ebony (photo provided below), this box honors the G&G style elements with a "lighter" look, substituting Quilted Maple for Mahogany, Cherry for Walnut and Walnut for Ebony.
The box bottom and tray are white pine with padded lining. High-quality BRUSSO brass hinges complete this outstanding jewelry or keepsake box.
